Spring Break Cruise in Hawaii - Day 5 (Pride of America)

Kamae'e Falls

Today is day 4 of our cruise and day 5 of our trip. We are docked in Hilo, Hawaii. Our booked excursion today is called Rainforest Zipline & Waterfall Adventure. It starts this afternoon so we had some time to walk around this morning. This is Teddy's very first zipline experience so he is terrified.

The dock here isn't photogenic but the terminal building has some shopping, which is convenient. There's also a general store here called Keaukaha General Store. They sell Punalu'u Taro Sweet Bread there. I regret not getting some.

The excursion took us by a comfortable bus. The drive was very scenic. We stopped at the Botanical World Adventures. This is where we are doing the ziplining. In total, there were 8 zips, including some dual zips, one big waterfall, and a suspension bridge. I don't think it's the best zipline to start your first time because the instructors weren't very good at putting newbies' minds at ease, but it was a wonderful experience if you aren't overly scared.

I had so much fun. I really love ziplining. It's so thrilling but not too scary like some rollercoasters are. We were taken back to the ship about 4:30pm and got ready for dinner. Tonight's dinner is at Cagney's Steakhouse. I ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer, Lobster Bisque, and the Petite Filet. Teddy got the Oyster Rockfeller, the Wedge Salad, and the Grilled Seafood Platter. Of course, we also get 4 sides and 2 desserts with all that, so it's always way too much food, and even more calories, but that's why we only do Cagney's one time per trip.

Tonight's entertainment is called The Mentalist: David Hall. We enjoyed the show, but as with most mentalists tricks, it was easy for me to figure out. They had two shows tonight and people who attended both shows told us that the shows were identical - which means, all of the seemingly "random" answers people in the audience gave out had to have been forced somehow. So even if you can't figure out how he did it, it still killed the tricks a bit. If you want to "believe" in magic, then you would probably only want to attend one.

What another fun day. Tomorrow we will be docked at Kailua-Kona. Can't wait!!
